(This is an on-site position.)SummaryThe Sr. Industrial Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing common contract logistics processes and driving continuous performance improvement. This engineer may also provide engineering support for new and/or expanding business implementations. The Sr. Industrial Engineer will support multifaceted operations and have a detailed understanding of client needs. The Sr. Industrial Engineer may contribute to the overall facility layout and design as well as determine appropriate equipment to support the concept of operational use. The Engineer will lead & manage any necessary vendors, as they execute the physical implementation of the solution. This role is also responsible for maintaining financial and engineering metrics that will meet or exceed performance goals. The Sr. Industrial Engineer may at times provide guidance and training to interns/Co-ops.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch/Analysis:Keep informed of best-in-class tools and techniques needed for solution designTrack all projects and provide communication and guidance to engineering leadershipDetermine and enlist resources required to support targeted changes in support of CI project including WMS Engineering, Operations, Human Resources, Quality, Etc.Analyze workflow including inbound, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping and VAS processes to ensure accuracy and ability to executeEnsures all distribution system functionality is configured to optimize performance (e.g., WMS, LMS)Performs special research or technical studies critical to logistic support functionsPerforms cost/benefit tradeoff analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system, or technology changeDevelops logistics engineering strategies with the engineering leadership teamMay participation in "DSV Quality Planning" (DQP) sessions with new clients validating requirements and processesMay support local operations with pricing analysis and supportDocumentation/Reporting:Document and communicate common processes for all distribution functions within scope of responsibilityReview data and summarize expectations to address gaps in operationIdentify areas for improvement based on analysis of data and observationsCommunication:Communicate opportunities for improvementHelp determine key metrics and provide recommendations to guide managementAssist with developing/presenting training materials and classes for distribution processesRelationships:Bring cross-functional teams together to collaborate on projectsSupport the labor management program, including methods and procedures, engineered labor standardsEnsure alignment among all operations' policies, procedures and ongoing improvement projectsLean Operations:Educate team in LEAN expanding knowledge base to support and develop a sustainable CI cultureFacilitate use of LEAN methodology in collaboration with our global team and recommend solutionsDeploy statistical tools such as Pareto Charts, Histograms and Cause & Effect DiagramsLeverage Value Stream Map or Flow Diagram of process to identify critical to quality pointsUse of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of the process being evaluated to quantify impactMaintain SME in proven industry methods and tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC, value-stream mapping, and 5SWork with leadership to drive continual improvement programs, Kaizen events, and workshopsSet the standard for innovation within strategic and operational problem solvingApply traditional concepts to a variety of material handling environmentsEnsure that all projects include a sustainability component and drive adherence within the organizationIllustrate continual improvement successes in a case study before & after format that quantifies valueProject Management:Assist with developing and rolling out strategies and projectsDetermine feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, company goals, technical requirements and economic factorsDevelop and implement project activities plans and timelines, coordinate subcontractors, facility management and field service personnel, and resolve problems in area of logistics to ensure meeting of contractual commitmentsOther Duties:Drive standard approach for US based operations and could be asked to coordinate with Canadian counterpartsPerforms other duties as requiredMay need to backup Engineering Leadership on occasionMaintain fiscal responsibility towards department budgetCompliance to the Internal Labor Regulations and to the Human Resources ProceduresCompliance to Security, Safety and Hygiene Measures & ProceduresSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneMinimum Required QualificationsEducation and/or Experience: Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering required or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum 3-4 years' experience in a supply chain (warehouse/4walls) environment.
