Associate Director

The University of Vermont’s Department of Student Life is searching for our next Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life. What is the role? The Assistant Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life provides leadership across all facets of UVM’s fraternity and sorority community, championing the success and development of recognized Greek-letter organizations, their members, and alumni. You’ll work directly with students every day, helping them grow as leaders, strengthen their chapters, and build a vibrant, values-driven FSL experience. You’ll guide chapter development and compliance, support recruitment, and lead efforts around risk prevention and response, all while promoting an inclusive, healthy, and engaged community. Collaboration is at the heart of the work: you’ll supervise the FSL Coordinator and Graduate Assistant to deliver intentional, consistent advising and programming, and you’ll build strong relationships with students, campus partners, advisors, and national headquarters representatives. This position reports to the Associate Director for Student Involvement. Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who thrives in a student-facing role and brings meaningful experience in Fraternity and Sorority Life. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can build rapport with chapters, councils, and a wide range of campus and national partners. They understand the difference between advising and supervising and can support students with clarity and confidence. Programming and coordination skills are highly valued, especially for recruitment and community-wide events. Success in this role also requires comfort with administrative work, including budgets, policies, and supervision. A solid understanding of risk management and community education is essential.
