Vice President of Mission Advancement

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President of Mission Advancement is a member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for leading The Healing Place's fundraising, communications, and community engagement strategies across the organization's Louisville and Campbellsville locations. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role develops and executes advancement initiatives that strengthen philanthropic support, expand strategic partnerships, increase community visibility, and advance organizational goals.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for cultivating major donors, building corporate and community partnerships, supporting board engagement, and driving fundraising success across individual giving, grants, sponsorships, events, and campaigns. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and motivating leader who develops high-performing teams, fosters accountability, and turns strategy into results. The Vice President will play a key role in growing and diversifying philanthropic revenue in support of annual fundraising goals exceeding $2 million.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

Strategic Leadership & Fundraising

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Mission Advancement strategy aligned with organizational priorities and revenue goals across all program and service locations.
• Partner with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to strengthen philanthropic engagement and support long-term organizational growth.
• Establish fundraising goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures to achieve annual and multi-year revenue objectives.

• Identify and develop emerging philanthropic, corporate, community, and partnership opportunities that strengthen The Healing Place's mission, increase organizational visibility, and support long-term sustainability and growth.

• Provide regular updates to leadership and the Board regarding fundraising progress, pipeline activity, opportunities, and challenges.

Donor, Grant & Partnership Development

• Maintain and actively manage a portfolio of major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and prospective supporters.
• Lead strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic investments from individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners.

• Partner with the CEO and engage and support the Board of Directors and appropriate board committees in donor cultivation, fundraising strategy, relationship development, and philanthropic advocacy.

• Provide strategic oversight of grants, sponsorships, annual giving initiatives, fundraising campaigns, and signature events.
• Build and strengthen partnerships that advance organizational visibility, sustainability, and community impact.

Team Leadership & Operations

• Lead, coach, and develop Mission Advancement staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and results.

• Ensure Mission Advancement priorities move consistently from planning to implementation by establishing clear timelines, accountability measures, and measurable outcomes

• Ensure effective use of DonorPerfect and other systems to support donor management, reporting, forecasting, and fundraising growth.

• Lead development of the annual Mission Advancement operating and revenue budgets in partnership with the CEO and Finance team
• Develop fundraising revenue projections and pipeline forecasts to support organizational budgeting, financial planning, and strategic decision-making.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and return on investment of fundraising initiatives, campaigns, events, and donor engagement strategies and recommend adjustments to maximize impact and revenue growth.

Communications & Community Engagement

• Provide strategic oversight of donor communications, marketing, public relations, and brand awareness initiatives.
• Ensure consistent messaging that communicates the mission, impact, and value of The Healing Place.
• Serve as a visible ambassador and spokesperson for The Healing Place through presentations, donor meetings, community events, media opportunities, and public speaking engagements.
• Build relationships with community leaders, businesses, government partners, and other stakeholders to advance organizational priorities.

• In partnership with the CEO, support relationships with government agencies, elected officials, and public-sector stakeholders when such relationships advance funding opportunities, strategic partnerships, advocacy efforts, or organizational priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree preferred;
• Eight (8) or more years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, philanthropy, community relations, business development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success developing and executing fundraising strategies that generate measurable revenue growth through major gifts, grants, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, and other philanthropic investments.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams while translating strategic vision into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, accountability, and sustained results.
• Demonstrated success partnering with boards of directors and volunteer leaders to advance fundraising strategy, donor engagement, philanthropic initiatives, and community relationships.
• Experience developing and managing fundraising, development, or departmental budgets, including revenue forecasting, pipeline management, and performance analysis.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, negotiation, public speaking, presentation, and storytelling skills, with experience engaging executive leaders, boards of directors, donors, foundations, and community stakeholders.
• Experience leading or overseeing donor communications, marketing, public relations, brand awareness, or community engagement initiatives preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor management/CRM systems; DonorPerfect experience preferred.
• Passion for advancing recovery, behavioral health, health and human services, or other mission-driven community impact initiatives strongly preferred.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $105,000-$115,000 annually , commensurate with experience and qualifications. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an office, residential program, or community setting. The employee will regularly interact with staff, clients, community partners, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Occasional local travel and limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions may be required.
