IT Analyst Sr, BI Developer -Clinical Analytics

Role Description Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing the university’s technology infrastructure and services. They handle system maintenance, support, and cybersecurity to ensure technology resources are reliable and secure. These roles involve collecting, processing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights and support strategic planning and creating end products such as dashboards and data visualization tools. The IT Analyst Sr, BI Developer will be responsible for: Using the enterprise's data to design, create, and maintain BI reports and tools in support of clinical, business, and research operations at UVA Health. Performing data analysis utilizing appropriate analytics methodologies. Fostering data-driven decision making by providing valuable consultative analytics support to executives and service area leadership, in accordance with regulatory standards. Participating in cross-functional performance improvement team efforts, ensuring appropriate analysis of data, data accuracy, and data availability. Consulting with all levels of staff to help solve problems and contribute to highly visible organizational projects through the analysis and presentation of data. Collaborating with operational subject matter experts and stakeholders, serving as lead developer and resident expert for outcomes-related metrics. Ensuring accurate metadata, target/threshold acquisition, appropriate metric and report development, data validation, maintenance, and modification. Collecting business requirements from appropriate stakeholders. Designing, coding, validating, deploying, and maintaining the semantic layer and metadata for complex reports and reporting tools. Building BI intelligence solutions. Developing code with structured query language (SQL), preferably Microsoft T-SQL. Performing analysis of data and designing data collection tools based on parameters appropriate for the situation. Performing system administration: build, test, and assist with upgrade/enhancement/patch-related implementation activities. Adhering to specific team and departmental quality standards and development best practices. Monitoring the teamwork queue and triaging requests. Participating in governance and Change Control-related activities. Regularly providing guidance and training to less experienced team members. Coaching customers, as appropriate, on the use of BI tools. Adapting to competing demands, shifting priorities, and organizational constraints. Remote work permitted. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, or related field. Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Intelligence Developer, Data Engineer, or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Health Informatics or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Intelligence Developer, Data Engineer, or related occupation, or a PhD in Health Informatics or a related field and one (1) year of experience in the job offered or as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Intelligence Developer, Data Engineer, or related occupation. Good understanding of relational databases. Proficient with T-SQL. Intermediate experience with organizing and analyzing large datasets. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Able to learn new software as required for the position. Experience and skills may be gained before or during attainment of graduate degree. Remote work permitted.
