This role designs and optimizes tooling, fixtures, equipment, and workflows, and provides hands-on engineering support to production. The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in new program launches, process validation, equipment installation, and continuous improvement initiatives across all TTD plants.Essential Job Functions:Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes, routings, and work instructions for new and existing productsDesign, specify, and validate tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment to support production requirementsLead process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and cycle timeUtilize SMED methodology (Single Minute Exchange of Dies) to decrease changeover times.Support new product launches, including APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, control plans, and run-at-ratesAnalyze process capability, cycle times, and throughput to identify and implement improvement opportunitiesEstimate cycle times, tooling requirements, and manufacturing costs to support quoting and capital planningLead equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and qualification for new and replacement machineryProvide hands-on engineering support to resolve production, tooling, and equipment issues in real timeCollaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Production, and Tool & Die to improve process stability and product qualityCreate and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, routings, drawings, and process specificationsSupport automation and robotics integration, including weld, assembly, and material-handling processesEnsure compliance with applicable quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements)Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulationsFollow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.Maintain a clean and organized work area.Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.Assumes additional duties as assigned, which may fall outside the primary scope of the role.ISO / Environmental Management System (EMS) Responsibilities:Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental processes and requirements applicable to their role.Employee is responsible for ensuring all environmental practices are in line with job scope / position. Examples include but are not limited to: proper waste disposal practices, reporting of spills, non-compliance to permit, and addressing any improper practices.Requirements:Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)2–5 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment (stamping, welding, and assembly preferred)Experience with lean manufacturing, process improvement, and root cause analysis / corrective action processesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specificationsExperience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, process flow, and control plansExperience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) preferredGeneral Skills/Experience:Excellent communication skills for relaying information (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, direct reports, customers and vendors/suppliersStrong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically.Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction.Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.Requires strong mathematical and analytical skillsSoftware/Computer Skills & Experience:General knowledge of and competence with the efficient use of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site softwareWorking knowledge of CAD software and ERP/MRP systems preferredHas the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quicklyProficient keyboarding and typing skills.
