Accounting Specialist

Under general supervision, this position is specialized in Covered California billing and accounts receivable functions and is responsible for performing other technical, clerical, and basic accounting functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyzes, reviews, and resolves problems in Covered California billing, collection, and accounts receivable, including, but not limited to, research and responses to questions from Member Services Department. Triages billing related requests and problems within HSP Workflow System to appropriate Finance staff. Maintains and establishes billing entities and other settings in HSP system as assigned. Generates various accounting reports and audit schedules. Implements changes in Covered California billing and reporting requirements as needed. Assists in invoice generation, claim check printing, and invoice/check distribution. Backups and supports Accounts Payable and other accounting staff. Accepts and performs other duties as assigned. Provides excellent services to internal and external customers Qualifications BS degree in accounting or equivalent diploma/certificate or 5+ years of recent health plan experience. Strong account reconciliation and analytical skills required Knowledge in Covered California rules and regulations. Prior experience in member services, technical support and/or accounting helpful. Be able to work independently, detailed oriented, and able to work flexible hours to meet deadlines Ability to prioritize & organize work within a fast‑paced environment Strong problem solving and oral/written communication skills Bilingual in English and Chinese is a plus Physical Requirements Able to lift up to 30 pounds Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment Standing, walking and moving 50% of the day. Compliance Requirements Complies with CCHP Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs. Base Pay Scale Starting at $22.43 – $33.62 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
