Assistant Dean, Research Operations

The client seeks an Assistant Dean for Research Operations to oversee research administrative operations, strategies, and the systems that support the research enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Research, this role leads a broad range of research business operations, including centralized clinical trial operations and oversight of a complex research portfolio with approximately $490M in total costs and a large operations team. The position is a member of the senior leadership team and works collaboratively to support and drive sustainable growth and a balanced research portfolio. As a thought partner to senior leadership, the Assistant Dean will help ensure effective functionality of the research enterprise by applying strong expertise in research operations, compliance, finances, and management. The role is expected to bring an in-depth understanding of research guidelines and of technology and systems, along with best practices in research portfolio management. In addition to direct leadership responsibilities, the position has an indirect reporting relationship to an Executive Vice Provost/COO-level leader within the institution. Key qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with advanced education (such as a master’s or PhD) preferred.
