Skilled Mechanical And Supervisory Work

Skilled mechanical and supervisory work in charge of the operation and maintenance of heating, air conditioning, and other mechanical equipment in the buildings assigned; incumbents must have knowledge in Utility Management systems as well as pneumatic controls; and related work as required. NOTE : This position may require shift work. WORKING CONDITIONS : Candidates for this position will be required to assist in plant activities during emergencies such as fires, hurricanes, and power outages.

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses: 2nd Class Air Conditioning or Refrigeration License issued by the Board of Examiners of Operating Engineers of the City of New Orleans (Room 7E05, City Hall).*

• 2nd Class Boiler's License issued by the Board of Examiners of Operating Engineers of the City of New Orleans (Room 7E05, City Hall).*
• Three (3) years of experience in power plant operations.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma
• Current Louisiana driver's license.* Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport's auto liability insurance policy.

If hired, Aviation employees must maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility during the duration of their employment. Failure to comply with any of the above listed provisions may result in termination. This position requires a one (1) year probationary period. Note : Applicants must have knowledge in the operation of emergency generators and fire pumps. Note : Candidates must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check required under federal regulations. * Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education and licenses claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicant must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this classification.
