SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:  

Provides comprehensive career transition and placement services to students and graduates by assisting with employment, military enlistment, postsecondary education, and advanced training opportunities. Develops employer and community partnerships, provides job readiness support, and maintains ongoing follow-up with students to promote successful placement and retention. Identifies and coordinates supportive services, including transportation, relocation, and childcare, to address barriers to successful career transition.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Provides comprehensive career transition services to students and graduates, including assistance with employment, postsecondary education, advanced training, military opportunities, and other approved placement options.
• Develops and maintains partnerships with employers, workforce development organizations, educational institutions, military recruiters, community agencies, and other organizations to expand placement opportunities for students.
• Identifies employment and career opportunities that align with students’ training, skills, career goals, and qualifications and assists students throughout the placement process.
• Provides individualized job-readiness assistance, including resume development, job search strategies, application assistance, interview preparation, and mock interviews.
• Maintains an assigned caseload and conducts required follow-up with students and graduates to monitor placement, employment, education, training, and retention status.
• Identifies students and graduates who are no longer employed, enrolled in school, or participating in training and provides appropriate assistance, referrals, and reconnection services.
• Coordinates and participates in career transition activities, including job fairs, career days, employer presentations, recruitment activities, and mock interview sessions.
• Conducts outreach to employers and develops new employment opportunities to support Center placement goals and maintain an active employer network and job bank.
• Educates students throughout the Center on Career Transition Services, placement requirements, available resources, and expectations for successful transition from the program.
• Conducts transition and exit meetings with separating students to ensure they receive appropriate Career Transition Services contact information, workforce resources, and post-separation guidance.
• Identifies barriers that may impact successful placement or retention and coordinates appropriate supportive services, including transportation, relocation assistance, childcare resources, and community referrals.
• Maintains accurate, timely, and complete student case files, case notes, placement documentation, contact records, and other required Career Transition Services records.
• Collaborates with Counseling, Career Technical Training, Education, Independent Living, and other Center departments to support students’ career readiness and transition goals, including participation in Evaluation of Student Progress (ESP) activities.
• Maintains ongoing communication with students, graduates, employers, and community partners to support successful placement and retention outcomes.
• Participates in Center programs, mentoring activities, staff meetings, training, and other initiatives that support student achievement and Center performance goals.
• Ensures Career Transition Services activities and documentation are completed in accordance with established Job Corps requirements, Center procedures, contractual requirements, and applicable policies.

• Ability to effectively market students’ skills and qualifications to prospective employers and identify appropriate employment opportunities.
• Strong organizational, case management, follow-up, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to identify barriers to employment or education and connect students with appropriate resources and supportive services.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and collaborate with staff across multiple departments.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and timely student records, case notes, placement documentation, and reports.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries when working with students, graduates, employers, and community partners.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively utilize electronic databases, case management systems, and other technology required for documentation and reporting.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Knowledge of applicable Job Corps policies, procedures, and Career Transition Services requirements, or the ability to acquire such knowledge.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Business Administration, Communications, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in career services, workforce development, job placement, recruitment, sales, marketing, counseling, case management, or other related human services.

OTHER:

• Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Retrieving and storing files and supplies; occasionally carrying and/or lifting light objects
