Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Float RN OpportunityOur client is seeking a Float RN to provide professional nursing care within the assigned department. The ideal candidate will have experience in ED and MS/PCU, be proficient in patient assessment, pain management, and medication administration. This position requires flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well under stressful situations. The Resource RN will be responsible for coordinating care planning, communicating with physicians, and providing care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care.Provides professional nursing care within the department assignedCoordinates care planning with other disciplinesDetermines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs of patientsCommunicates with physicians regarding changes in patient's statusResponds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatmentAbility to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policyAbility to adequately assess and reassess painUtilizes appropriate pain management techniquesEducates the patient and family regarding pain managementAbility to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatmentPerforms patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's ageKnowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical conditionFollows the SIX (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errorsFormulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learningDemonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skillsDemonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensureDemonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS protocolAbility to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the resultsAbility to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectivenessFormulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learningFamily is included in teaching as appropriateProvides care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic statusProvides care to patients requiring extensive fluid and electrolyte managementCommunicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and physiciansConsults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needsDemonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures both in the PCU and other departmentsDemonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situationsOther duties as assignedSchedule and Shift Details: 12hr Nights, 36 hours guaranteed weekly, Every other weekend
