Schedule: Full-Time | Shift Type: Varied | On-Call Required Position Overview Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Ultrasound Sonographer to join a partner's team at a leading academic medical center in San Francisco, CA. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a strong background in diagnostic sonography who is ready to take on a senior-level position.


The successful candidate will perform diagnostic sonograms across a variety of settings, demonstrating a high level of self-critique and technical skill. This is a pivotal role that requires flexibility to rotate to multiple sites and shifts, as well as a commitment to patient-focused care and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications Required: • Graduate of a formal accredited ultrasound training program in an approved school. • Current ARDMS credentials in Abdomen and OB/GYN specialties. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar, large-scale medical center or hospital setting. • Requires prior OB ultrasound experience. • Must have the flexibility to work variable shifts and cover for weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.


Preferred: • Experience with pediatric patients. • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. • Ultrasound experience in specialties such as thyroid, transplant kidney, or liver.


Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Excellence • Obtain appropriate patient clinical information from the requesting physician prior to performing an exam. • Prepare the patient for imaging and prepare the room and equipment before and after each exam. • Perform diagnostic sonograms to demonstrate anatomy and pathology for interpretation. • Meet physical requirements to perform all aspects of diagnostic studies in inpatient and outpatient settings, including portable exams and transporting patients. • Demonstrate appropriate self-critique of exams and recognize suboptimal techniques or equipment malfunctions.


Operational Oversight • Maintain ARDMS credentials according to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography's criteria. • Work at all locations and variable shifts as needed to support departmental needs.
