Screening Questions:

Here are 10 basic technical questions we ask during our interviews. Please feel free to use these questions during pre-screening.

1. A customer reports that Outlook will not open. When they attempt to launch the application it hangs on "Processing" and never loads. What steps do you take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue? Remove PST File Mappings from Control Panel/Mail or Delete/Recreate Profile
2. Customer attempts to print a Word Document and the output on the print out is garbled characters. What steps would you take to resolve this issue? Change/Update Printer Driver
3. What DOS command would you use to identify established TCP Connections? Answer: NETSTAT
4. Outlook randomly crashes. What steps would you perform to resolve this issue? Top answer: Disable Add-On's one by one to see which one is causing the issue.
5. What DOS command could be used to test TCP connection over an IP network? TELNET
6. What command is used to identify network path to a server? TRACERT
7. What is the main cause for Windows Blue Screen? Poorly written device drivers or malfunctioning hardware, such as faulty memory, power supply issues, overheating of components, or hardware running beyond its specification limits
8. Customer laptop is running slowly. What are some steps you would take to improve performance? Delete programs you never use. Limit how many programs run at startup. Clean up your hard disk. Turn off visual effects, & Make sure current drivers and updates are installed, Restart regularly.
9. What command would I use to obtain the Mac Address for a network adapter? Ipconfig /all
10. What Windows Application can be used to view monitoring and troubleshooting messages? Event Viewer
