Position Summary The Laboratory Manager position is a full‑time role within the Brain Food Lab at the University of Georgia, directed by Dr. Shana Adise, PhD. The Lab Manager serves as the operational and technical backbone of the lab, overseeing data management, study coordination, supervision of research assistants, lab operations, regulatory compliance, and providing general administrative and research support to the PI. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Experience with programming and data analysis in R, Python, Bash, and/or MATLAB and familiarity with scripting and data pipelines. Experience working with youth participants or in pediatric research. Familiarity with neuroimaging (MRI/fMRI) studies. Knowledge of obesity‑related research or neurocognitive testing. Experience supervising and training undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities Data Management & Analysis Oversee the secure storage, organization, and cleaning of all behavioral, questionnaire, and imaging data. Manage data entry processes and computational workflows. Assist in coding pipelines to ensure reproducible research practices. Assist the PI with statistical analyses to support ongoing projects. Study Coordination Lead participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling for all ongoing studies, specifically working with youth participants in pediatric research. Coordinate MRI scanning logistics and collaborate closely with imaging cores to ensure seamless data acquisition. Act as the primary communication liaison with study participants and collaborators. Supervision & Training Mentor and supervise a team of undergraduate and graduate research assistants. Provide training on all study procedures, standardized data handling, and quality control measures to maintain data integrity. Administrative & Research Support Assist the PI with preparation and editing of grant reports, progress summaries, and contributions to scientific manuscripts. Participate in lab meetings, contributing actively to discussions on experimental design, data interpretation, and strategic project planning. Lab Operations Manage and maintain lab inventory, including ordering supplies and materials within budget guidelines. Ensure all lab equipment functions optimally and coordinate necessary repairs or updates. Safely transport scientific equipment, materials, and/or data between research facilities and other designated locations. Regulatory Compliance Oversee maintenance of all IRB protocols, including managing amendments and annual renewals. Ensure strict adherence to ethical research standards, university policies, and federal regulations. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Comfort working with large, complex datasets and coding pipelines. Experience with programming and data analysis in R, Python, Bash, and/or MATLAB. Experience working with youth participants or in pediatric research. Familiarity with neuroimaging (MRI/fMRI) studies. Physical Demands Some degree of physical activity, including lifting supplies and handling audio/visual equipment. Standing and/or sitting for extended periods. Driving as needed to perform job duties. Additional Information Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm Salary Range: $40,409 – $60,613 (annually) Accessibility accommodations available.
