Job Title: Medical Assistant

Primary Location:  Portsmouth, VA (Must be willing to travel to all locations - see below)

Hours:  Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview:

Tidewater Neurologists, Inc. and Sleep Disorder Specialists are seeking a dedicated and motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time opportunity offering professional growth and the chance to make a meaningful impact in patient care.

Please note: This position requires regular travel to all clinical locations in Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth. Applicants must be comfortable commuting between sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
• Prepare and maintain patients’ medical records and documentation
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring effective communication
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical supplies
• Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless patient care
• Perform administrative duties, including data entry and record management using Microsoft Office and Excel
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients and their families

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in healthcare is a plus
• MA Certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a specialty practice
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (Athena preferred; training available)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Excellent customer service skills
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all clinical sites
