Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of Med/Tele experience required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Experience with PCA pumps, surgical drains, wound care, and TR bands - Comfort with managing Cardizem, Nitro, and Amio drips Description: We are seeking an experienced RN for the MedSurg/Tele unit. The unit has 10 beds with an average census of 8 patients per day. Patient diagnoses include a variety of MedSurg conditions such as diabetes, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal illnesses, neurological surgeries, trauma surgeries, and spinal precautions. Cardiac and CT surgery patients will also be managed on this unit, including pre-CT surgery cases, CABG, and clean cath lab patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with support from CNAs and a charge nurse. CNAs will assist by obtaining vital signs, conducting glucose checks, performing safety rounds, and helping with activities of daily living. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws. The unit features telemetry monitoring by bedside RNs, who will read and interpret cardiac strips. There is 24/7 availability of respiratory therapy and hospitalist/intensivist support. Technology in use includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and a medication dispensing system. The unit promotes a friendly culture and is part of an academic medical center.
