The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (BMM) at GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) aims to deliver high-quality education and conduct cutting-edge research in biochemistry, molecular genetics, and genomics, focusing on understanding human disease. The department has a strong record in training undergraduate, master’s, and graduate students. A position for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate (PA) is available in Dr. Lee’s lab, which focuses on molecular regulatory signaling networks in cancer metabolism, critical for developing novel cancer therapeutics. The lab utilizes mammalian cancer cell lines, 3D organoids, xenograft, and patient-derived xenograft models, employing various cellular and molecular biology techniques. The role involves conducting cancer research on metabolic alterations in cancer cells using in vitro and in vivo models, data collection and analysis, manuscript publication, grant applications, mentoring junior researchers, and other related duties. The postdoctoral researcher will design and execute advanced experiments, troubleshoot protocols, analyze data, publish findings, and may oversee lab operations and supervise staff and trainees. Responsibilities include: Design and implement research protocols, adapt new methods, and ensure safety procedures. Collect, analyze, and document research data; prepare data presentations and manuscripts. Supervise laboratory personnel and assist in training. Oversee reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and procurement. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: PhD or equivalent in a relevant field. Experience in cancer research and publications is highly desirable. Eligible to develop skills through active mentorship. Support provided via grants or departmental funds. Limited term appointment up to five years. This role involves participating in research planning, data analysis, publication, and conference presentations, with guidance for career development.
