Site Receptionist

This position reports to the Principal and is a 9-month contract with a salary based on experience ranging from $11.37 to $13.46. The minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 1-3 years of general office experience. Computer literacy, excellent interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are essential.

The primary responsibilities include operating a multi-line switchboard, receiving and screening calls, and routing them to the appropriate staff. Visitors are to be received, their names and business nature recorded, and district policy on visitor check-in followed. Inquiries from parents/guardians and school officials are to be answered using BOE guidelines and state approved codes. Clerical duties such as typing correspondence, sorting and delivering messages, photocopying, and assisting with large mailing projects are also part of the role. The receptionist helps distribute and organize items for site substitutes, assists in report data compilation and preparation, and maintains office records and supplies. Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator are expected.

The role requires sound judgment, adaptability to changes, and the ability to project a professional company image. Building and fostering rapport with district staff and the public while achieving the objectives and goals of the position is crucial. Handling problematic and/or difficult situations professionally by communicating with the appropriate person is also necessary. Attendance of 95% for assigned responsibilities is required. The position primarily involves indoor working conditions with no exposure to extreme environmental conditions. Physical standards include the ability to lift/carry and manipulate objects and supplies of up to 10 lbs for up to 50 feet frequently, and objects of 11-24 pounds for up to 50 feet occasionally. Standing, walking, sitting, fine finger work, hand-eye coordination, talking, hearing, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are also required.
