Job Overview and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves delivering professional nursing care to patients through the nursing process. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare team members, including physicians, to ensure high-quality health services.

Qualifications Needed:

• EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

  REQUIRED: An Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

• LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  REQUIRED: A current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a compact state, along with a valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

• EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

  PREFERRED: Certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) or a commitment to obtain it within two years of working in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

• SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  PREFERRED: Proficiency in reading and writing Basic English to effectively communicate physician orders, knowledge of body substance isolation, and the ability to utilize the FIM instrument to evaluate patient independence throughout their rehabilitation journey. Strong listening and empathetic skills to address the needs of patients, families, and partners are essential. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.

• COMPETENCIES:

  Complete unit-specific orientation within the first 120 days of employment in the Rehabilitation Unit. Effectively use the FIM instrument for patient assessments upon admission and throughout their rehabilitation program. Document all aspects of rehabilitation nursing in compliance with Medicare standards. Capable of performing both basic and advanced patient transfers within the rehabilitation unit.
