The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of collection experience, specifically in areas of lending, repossession, bankruptcies, real estate loans, loss mitigation, and the collection of negative account shares./ppIn this role, Collector II will be responsible for managing a portfolio of delinquent accounts while working to recover outstanding debts. This includes negotiating payment arrangements with our members, implementing collection strategies, negotiating repayment terms, and proposing possible loan restructurings, all while following the procedures of our department./ppThe ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of the credit union by ensuring timely follow-ups and effective communication with our members and management. The applicant must be goal-oriented, able to work effectively in a team, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment./ppWe are also seeking a candidate with the following:/pulliCompliant with all federal, state, and collection laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures./liliMaintain accurate records of all communication and actions taken in relation to debt collection efforts/liliMaintain monthly reports assigned by management./liliEstablish clear communication with members to determine reasons for delinquency and evaluate financial situations to negotiate terms of repayment./liliPerform various administrative duties related to the collection process./li/ulpThis is a hybrid-based position with a minimum of 2 days in the Van Nuys office required, and supports all facets of the day-to-day operations and/or projects within the Collection department./ppWhat Youll Do/pulliManage a delinquency queue of up to 100 accounts/liliRecommend vehicles for repossession and/or assist with the assigning and sale of repossessed vehicles/liliCollect on delinquent real estate loans/liliCollect negative shares and balance a month-end recovery report/liliComplete daily call goals/liliReview member requests for hardship assistance/loss mitigation/liliComplete tasks assigned by management/liliAssist with department goals/li/ulpMinimum Qualifications/ppA minimum of 3 years of collection experience, specifically in lending collections/ppPrevious experience in collections, customer service, or a related financial field may be preferred./ppExperience in banking or credit unions is preferred/ppEducation and Certificates/Licenses/ppA minimum of a high school education or a GED/ppRequired Skills/Abilities/ppExcellent verbal and written communication skills/ppExcellent interpersonal, EQ, and customer service skills/ppExcellent organizational and attention to detail skills/ppExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines/ppAbility to function well in a fast-paced and changing environment/ppProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software/ppA working understanding of Collection principles, practices, and procedures is preferred/ppPhysical Demands: These are the general physical demands that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
