Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery - Pittsburgh, PA

AHN System Chair, Department of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) - Allegheny Health Network primarily located at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, seeks a highly skilled and compassionate physician leader with expertise in Otolaryngology. This position offers a System Chair leadership role in a growing and dynamic Otolaryngology program dedicated to clinical and translational research as well as exceptional patient care.

The Chair will work with other leaders to develop and implement strategy and processes for patient care. The Chair shall also maintain all current and future standards of care, both inpatient and outpatient as well as accreditations needed to provide service for the region. The Chair will assume responsibilities for research and development within the division and connect these activities to the larger goals of AHN. The successful candidate will be considered for the role of AHN System Chair, Department of ENT.

Highlights:

• Team Structure: In partnership with the service line vice president, overseeing 14 physicians and 13 APP's within the department

• Academic and/or mentoring opportunity: The program has an approved otolaryngology residency program taking 1 resident per year for a total of 5 residents.

Duties:

• Ability to clearly articulate a vision, be innovative, inspire others and set high expectations for achievement

• Team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and ensuring the highest customer service orientation

• Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences

• Proactive identification of issues and implementing solutions

• Adopting value-based care quality system metrics

• Mentoring and development of physician staff and team

• Prepare all necessary documentation including, but not limited to orders, consents, charges and medical documentation

• Responsible for directing all activities related to maintaining and advancing patient care within the department

• Oversee all programmatic and operational aspects of the Department of ENT

• Participate in regional, national, and international meetings

• Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows

• Contribute to research activity within the department, including investigator-initiated trials, cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials, laboratory investigation, and publication of research findings

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)

• Board-certified in otolaryngology

• Completion of an ACGME-approved Otolaryngology Residency

• Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment

• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Strong commitment to patient care and education
