While Starlink is designed for consumer and commercial use, Starshield is designed for government use, with an initial focus on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads.As a member of our Mission Management team, you will own the execution of security-related certification, customer interface, and technical integration work—from requirements through test, delivery, and operational deployment.You will work within a team of Mission Integration Engineers and Mission Managers, as well as counterparts across software, hardware, and security engineering, to keep the program aligned and moving. You will also interface with external customers and stakeholders, delivering written and verbal products where communication and credibility are critical.You will contribute to the performance and execution of satellite programs while specifically focusing on the aspects that keep our systems secure. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is hungry to do work that matters.RESPONSIBILITIES:Own planning and execution of compliance and certification tasks with partnering U.S. government entitiesProduce accreditation and authorization deliverables on a tight timeline that comply with applicable regulationsCollaborate with SpaceX technical departments to prepare design, analysis, and test data packages and briefings for government representativesIdentify technical and schedule issues that impact customer requirements; develop handling plans and drive them to closure across engineering teamsWork closely with SpaceX technical departments to develop technical rationales, mitigate technical risks, and ensure product deliveries remain on scheduleOrganize and lead program milestone reviews, technical interchange meetings, and regular working group meetingsNegotiate, develop, and ensure timely delivery of technical products and customer data requestsCoordinate certification tasks and requirements with technical teams so they can plan work appropriately to meet customer expectations and maintain schedulePartner with security and engineering teams on design and architecture decisions that satisfy security requirements while leveraging SpaceX’s core technologiesAct as a primary customer interface and security liaison with mission stakeholders; develop and refine security requirements for current and future productsSupport all phases of the program from initial proposal through test, flight, and on-orbit commissioning, including educating the customer on SpaceX designs and methodologiesServe as the customer interface at meetings, tests, and reviews; communicate technical positions clearly and defend them with evidenceEnsure contract deliverables are completed on time; distill customer requirements into actionable development objectivesBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or computer science2+ years of experience in technical program management, systems engineering, or mission integration engineeringPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Experience developing high-assurance systemsExperience interfacing with U.S. government customers on technical certification, accreditation, or similarly high-scrutiny reviewsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with particular strength in precise, customer-facing technical writing and briefingsExperience presenting to and negotiating with external customers (preferably U.S. Government)Prior work on space, defense, or other security- or safety-critical systemsAbility to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectivelyADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance, or the ability to obtain oneAn active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions; if so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testingMust be willing to travel to launch sites, vendors, and customers as necessary — up to 10% travelMust be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed to support critical project deliverablesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay Range: Level 1: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00Level 2: $115,000.00 - $160,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
