Senior Staff Accountant

THE ROLE

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will support the Accounting Manager and CFO by managing key aspects of AKUVO's financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance processes. You will maintain accurate financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide broad support across the full financial reporting lifecycle.

LOCATION

This position is open to candidates local to the Malvern, PA area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Track and account for accounts payable, including vendor management, employee expense processing, and payment fulfillment.
• Provide support for accounts receivable activities, including reviewing aging reports, tracking outstanding customer balances, and communicating with customers.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Own and support responsibilities during the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and work is completed ahead of the close calendar rather than on the due date.
• Perform bank, credit card, and payment processor reconciliations, including high-volume transactional data.
• Support external auditors and internal audit requests with schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Assist with processing and reviewing payroll, and support year-end payroll activities, including W-2/1099 reconciliations and coordination of tax filings.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Legal, People & Culture, and Product) to ensure accurate accounting treatment of business activities.
• Collaborate with external partners, including audit firms, banking groups, and strategic partners, to support reporting and compliance needs.
• Communicate status proactively, providing scheduled updates on assigned deliverables and raising roadblocks or discrepancies to the Accounting Manager as soon as they are identified, with a proposed path to resolution.
• Identify areas for process improvement, and recommend, document, and implement solutions.
• Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment when handling sensitive financial, payroll, and personnel information.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Minimum five years' experience in accounting, with exposure to a full month-end and year-end close cycle.
• Experience in a fintech, SaaS, or financial services company is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct or a similar accounting platform preferred (not required); experience with SAP Concur expense management is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with high-volume transactional data, and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize competing demands, and deliver complete and accurate work on schedule.
• Clear and responsive written and verbal communication, including the habit of surfacing issues early rather than after a deadline has passed.
• Comfortable operating as an individual contributor in a lean team setting, with a clear understanding of how their contributions affect overall team performance in a fast-paced environment.
• Forward-thinking approach to incorporating AI and emerging technologies into daily workflows, using company-approved tools, with a strong commitment to long-term professional growth and staying ahead of evolving finance operations.
