Bring your expertise in speech-language pathology to a rewarding school-based contract role in Birmingham, Alabama. Work with a diverse student population from August 7 through June 10, using your skills to make a positive impact on children with disabilities. As part of a supportive educational environment, you'll be assigned caseloads and locations based on current needs, ensuring your strengths are best utilized.
What You Bring:
- Valid Professional Educator Certification
- Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited institution
- Strong knowledge of the regulations and best practices in the education and service of children with disabilities
- Understanding of pediatric and adolescent developmental stages, and familiarity with medical and psychological diagnostic tools for assessing special needs
- Ability to interpret relevant laws, policies, and data
- Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Exceptional oral and written communication abilities
Preferred qualifications include ASHA certification and ABSESPA licensure.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver speech-language therapy services on-site (remote work is not available for this opportunity)
- Evaluate students’ needs using modern diagnostic instruments and evidence-based practice
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans in compliance with legal and educational standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, school staff, and families to ensure cohesive support for every student
- Accurately document student progress and maintain compliance with all reporting requirements
