Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time Eligible Applicants: High school–aged students (ages 14-18) Pay: $22.5-$30 an hour, depending on program/camp Reports to: Program Head Coach / Team Summit MTB Program Director Programs Supported/Eligible to Coach: Intro to Team Summit MTB Program Summer: June 8 – August 5 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00–7:00 PM) Fall: August 17 – September 30 (Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00–6:30 PM) Summit Shredders – Fundamentals Day Camps (Grades 2–4) Saturday, May 30 — 9:30 AM–3:30 PM Sunday, May 31 — 9:30 AM–3:30 PM Saturday, June 6 — 9:30 AM–3:30 PM Town of Frisco Bike Camps June 22–26 — 9:00 AM–4:30 PM July 6–10 — 9:00 AM–4:30 PM July 20–24 — 9:00 AM–4:30 PM August 3–7 — 9:00 AM–4:30 PM Junior Devo Program Summer: June 9 – August 6 (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00–7:00 PM) Fall: August 18 – October 1 (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00–6:30 PM) Role Overview The Junior Coach position is designed for motivated high school–aged athletes who are interested in coaching, mentoring, and gaining valuable job and leadership experience through mountain biking. Junior Coaches support lead and head coaches during practices and camps, assist with skill instruction and group management, and serve as positive role models for younger athletes. This role is ideal for students who enjoy working with kids, love riding bikes, and want hands‑on experience in coaching, outdoor leadership, and youth development. Key Responsibilities Assist Head and Lead Coaches during practices and bike camps Help demonstrate basic bike handling skills and drills Support younger athletes on the trail, including pacing, encouragement, and safety awareness Assist with group organization, transitions, and equipment checks Model positive behavior, sportsmanship, and trail etiquette Participate in coaches’ training sessions and program meetings Help create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all riders Follow all Team Summit safety protocols and coaching expectations Training and Development Opportunities Required attendance at Team Summit coaches’ training Opportunity to earn BICP Level I Skills Certification (OPTIONAL: certification costs fully covered by Team Summit if within budget) On-the-job mentorship from experienced coaches Valuable experience in leadership, communication, and outdoor education Job experience that can support resumes, college applications, and future coaching opportunities Qualifications Currently age 14 or above Passion for mountain biking and working with younger athletes Strong communication skills and a positive attitude Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a coaching team Willingness to learn, lead by example, and show up reliably Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) HeadsUp certification (or willingness to obtain) Background check clearance (as required for youth programs) Preferred Prior participation in Team Summit MTB or similar youth cycling programs Experience working with kids (coaching, camps, babysitting, mentoring, etc.) Interest in pursuing future coaching or leadership roles in cycling or outdoor recreation Schedule and Time Commitment Practices and camps primarily take place after school, evenings, and summer weekdays Scheduling will depend on program assignment. Please indicate in your application which programs/camps you are available to coach (Intro MTB, Junior Devo, and/or Frisco Bike Camps) Junior Coaches may work multiple programs based on availability.
