Group Summary The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front‑end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets. Qualifications B.S. in Engineering or Technical Degree (or equivalent manufacturing work experience may be considered). 3 years experience in a product‑related engineering position in a manufacturing or product design environment. One year continuous work experience. Good problem‑solving skills. Strong project‑management skills. Good computer skills. Ability to work well with others. Good communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability to make group presentations. Well presented due to a high degree of customer interface. Ability to read automotive blueprints and engineering specifications. Responsibilities Function as a liaison with customer’s product engineering groups and Nascote contracted product engineering and design sources. Direct tool/fixture builds, prototype and pre‑production builds, and give product engineering direction for production launch and sample approval. Monitor and control program costs associated with prototype and production tooling and prototype parts production. Provide product design input especially related to manufacturing feasibility. Institute product design cost‑reduction ideas. Coordinate product engineering changes. Lead or participate in team‑oriented problem‑solving efforts. Perform or direct all customer and Nascote required product engineering management tasks (engineering timelines, open‑issues reporting, design reviews, DFMEA, etc.). Be competent in and utilize AIAG “Core Tools” and coordinate Nascote launch of new products with program‑specific launch teams. Maintain an acceptable attendance record. Provide engineering input for new product quotations. Participate in department initiatives — e.g., business plan development/execution, procedure development, QOS. Participate in department meetings. Complete documentation of activities as required. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Submit cost‑reduction and innovation ideas. Perform other tasks as assigned.
