Summary Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist I acts as a scrub person who handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, anticipates the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care. Responsible for assisting with support services in the delivery of care to operative patients, including transportation, independent inventory management, environmental cleanliness, and direct assistance to patients, visitors, and staff. This role includes assignments in other ancillary roles within Perioperative Services. Job Title Surgical Technologist I Minimum Education Level High School Diploma/GED Preferred Education Level Associate's Degree Licensure Certification Needed Yes Minimum Licensure Basic Life Support (BLS). Must hold CST within 12 months of date of hire/transfer and be from either NBSTSA or NCCT.
