Associate Veterinarian - Small Animal Practice

Setting: Outpatient Small Animal Veterinary Hospital

Position Summary:

We are seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join a growing nonprofit veterinary hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys practicing high-quality outpatient medicine while making a meaningful impact in the community. The role focuses on preventive care, diagnostics, routine surgeries, client education, and compassionate care for companion animals.

Schedule:

1. Monday - Friday
2. 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
3. Paid Lunch: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
4. No regular on-call or weekend requirements

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive wellness exams and develop diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Diagnose and treat medical conditions in dogs, cats, and companion animals.
• Perform routine surgeries, including spays, neuters, and minor soft tissue procedures.
• Perform dental procedures (preferred)
• Manage anesthesia, pain control, and post-operative care.
• Interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.
• Educate pet owners on preventive care and treatment options.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school
• Active North Carolina Veterinary License (or eligible to obtain)
• Minimum 3 years of small animal clinical experience
• Experience performing routine surgical procedures
• Strong diagnostic, medical management, and client communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience performing dental procedures
• Experience with minor soft tissue surgeries, including mass removals
• Passion for nonprofit veterinary medicine and community outreach
