SALARY RANGE: BU09 | SR20 SALARY RATE: $99,122.40 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE JOB DUTIES: This position is located in the Emergency Services/Acute/Swing Bed departments of the Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua'i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai'i. The HHSC Kaua'i Region encompasses Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both designated as critical access hospitals (CAH), as well as the Kaua'i Region Clinics and its affiliated entities. The Emergency Services/Acute/Swing Bed departments provide comprehensive patient care by delivering immediate medical attention in emergencies, facilitating acute care for patients with serious health conditions, and managing swing bed services to support transitional care. This department ensures timely assessment and treatment of patients, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans, and maintains compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, it emphasizes patient safety, effective communication, and the efficient use of resources to enhance overall patient outcomes and satisfaction. The Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) III delivers nursing care and first aid to patients in the Emergency Services/Acute/Swing Bed department; assists physicians in examining and treating patients, arranges for inpatient admissions as necessary, provides nursing care to assigned patients, and performs other assigned duties. This position operates on rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may float to assist other nursing units as required by patient care needs and operational demands. The RPN III reports to the RPN V (Unit Nurse Manager) position number 58450, or its designee. THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week. EDUCATION: Applicants must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. NURSING EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months of professional nursing work experience. SELECT CERTIFICATION: Of the six (6) months professional nursing experience required, six (6) months of professional nursing experience must have been in emergency services. CERTIFICATIONS: Possession of current certifications issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required at the time of appointment. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current certificates for the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are highly preferred. SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED: Possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of nursing experience. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
LICENSES REQUIRED: Possession of an active license to practice as a professional nurse (RN) in the State of Hawai'i; possession of an active State of Hawai'i type #3 driver's license is preferred. DESIRED SKILLS:

- FAMILIARITY WITH: Standards, regulations, and requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, TJC, and procedures for surveillance and control of hospital infections.
