Gear Cut & Grind (Machinist Intern) - DSC 1st Shift

Work Performed Sets up and operates all types of gear manufacturing equipment—including gear cutters, gear grinders, gear shavers, lapping machines, and more—to produce a wide variety of gears and splines such as spiral bevel, helical, and hypoid gears. The setup and work must be held to extremely close tolerances. The role advises and assists in the development of new gears and gear cutting processes, tests and checks gears using specialized testing and checking machines, and sets up and/or performs all grinding on case hardened surfaces. The position is limited to a maximum of two (2) years. Tools & Equipment Used All types of gear manufacturing, testing, and checking equipment, machinists’ hand tools, and precision‑measuring instruments. Experience & Other Requirements Two (2) years performing the work above or the equivalent technical education.
