People Operations Specialist

A well-established nonprofit organization is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join its collaborative and mission-driven team. This individual will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s people initiatives through recruitment coordination, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, employee engagement efforts, and day-to-day HR operations. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a people-focused environment and is passionate about creating a positive employee experience. This position offers a competitive salary of $65-75K per year and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits, and opportunities for professional growth and development. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while ensuring compliance with company policies and record retention requirements. Serve as a resource for employees and managers by providing guidance on HR policies, benefits, payroll processes, and general employment-related questions. Support payroll administration, timekeeping reviews, benefits enrollment activities, and employee data updates in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, reference checks, and onboarding support. Assist with employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, team events, and communication efforts that enhance workplace culture. Coordinate leave administration processes, maintain required documentation, and support compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. Contribute to performance management, compensation planning, process improvement initiatives, and other special projects within the People Operations function. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Psychology, Communications, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, or employee relations experience. Experience working with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and employee benefits administration; Paycom experience required. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage and analyze employee data accurately. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, service-oriented approach to employee support.
