Our program emphasizes social diversity, critical thinking, and social justice. Position Available One or more temporary, part‑time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027. Responsibilities Lecturers may be needed for one or more of the following courses: Introduction to Sociology, Social Theory, Research Methods, Social Psychology, Social Policy, Work and Professions, Sociology of Education, Social Inequality, Environmental Sociology, Sociology of Sport, Medical Sociology, Sociology of Organizations, and Sociology of Emotions. Other courses may also be offered. Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. Rank and Salary Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization. The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Date of Appointment Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027. Qualifications Minimum Masters in Sociology or closely related field. ABD; PhD in Sociology or closely related field preferred. Experience teaching in a multicultural university setting is preferred. Application Deadline Positions open until filled.
