Faculty Employment Opportunity Part-Time Lecturer Pool Position Department of Writing, Languages, and Literatures We offer the B.A. in English. Serving some 178 undergraduates, the English major consists of a core curriculum and options in British and American Literature, English Language and Literacies, and Creative Writing. A major responsibility of the Department of English is the teaching of writing. We offer all levels of composition, including developmental, freshman, advanced, and online writing courses. Position Available One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027. Duties of the Position Teach stretch college writing courses (ENGL 100, 101, 103, 104). Teach college writing courses (ENGL 102, 200). Teach other writing courses. Openings may be available for courses in introductory and advanced literature, creative writing, language, and applied linguistics. Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. All faculty members must perform all duties within the state of California. Rank and Salary Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 - $6,677 Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 - $13,224 Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 - $14,523 Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 - $15,211 The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Date of Appointment Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027. Qualifications Required: M.A. in English or TESOL and relevant teaching experience.
