Job Description HOUSEKEEPING ATTENDANT part-time Job Number 250002E8 Primary Location Staten Island Navy Lodge Job Summary Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, exterior spaces and more. Services involve vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, cleaning, removal of debris, trash transport, linen and towel handling using hand and powered cleaning equipment. Responsibilities Cleans guest rooms and other assigned areas. Operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner, carpet cleaner, waxer, and polisher. Empties wastebaskets, dusts, waxes, and polishes room furniture. Washes walls, partitions, air vents, disinfects and deodorizes toilet bowls and lavatories. Washes and replaces window treatments and cleans ceiling fixtures. Changes light bulbs and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Moves furniture, cleans under and behind items, and uses step stools for window and window treatment cleaning, cabinet tops, mirrors, and picture frames. Cleans bathroom areas including tubs, tiles, walls, commode, floors, and vanity. Cleans kitchen area including stoves, ovens, microwave, refrigerator, cabinets, and floor. Washes and disinfects dishes, utensils, and cookware. Cleans iron and ironing board, replacing cover as necessary. Ensures proper functionality of luggage racks and availability of male/female hangers in closets. Ensures TVs, alarm clocks, in‑room phones, and other electronics are clean, programmed, and in working condition. Places proper number of amenities, including consumables and non‑consumables, in each room. Removes and replaces bed linen, inspects mattresses, and manages pull‑out sofas. Moves and repositions beds upon guest checkout or at guest request. Greets and welcomes guests upon sight, maintaining outstanding guest relations. Ensures privacy and security of guests at all times. Cleans and vacuums corridors, stairways, guest laundry, patios, and balconies. Shampoos rugs, carpets, and polishes stair rails regularly. Completes scheduled carpet cleaning using heavy industrial equipment. Performs deep cleaning as required by program standards, including pet‑friendly rooms and ADA service animal rooms. Maintains cleanliness and order of storage rooms. Communicates status of cleaned rooms and spaces to supervisor via daily assignments or property management system. Accomplishes minor repairs and maintenance of equipment; reports major repair or replacement needs to supervisor. Cleans and inspects exterior spaces such as parking lots and outside passageways. Loads and unloads trucks or vans as required. Assists with receipt, assembly, separation, storage, and delivery of vendor supplies. Moves heavy items using hand trucks. Uses common hand tools such as hammers, pliers, box cutters, crowbars, and shears for cutting bands. Manages pass key and other keys as assigned and returns all keys at shift end. Reports immediately to supervisor any unusual circumstances (e.g., missing luggage, no service needed, room vacancies, extra guests, unauthorized pets). Reports lost and found items to supervisor, listing room number or area. Sets up, breaks down, and cleans the complimentary self‑service breakfast bar; assists with heating, displaying, and replenishing breakfast items. Ensures surrounding area is returned to original state and free of leftover food by the end of breakfast hour. Obtains proper food handling certifications as applicable. Completes all required safety and security training. Maintains a clean and safe environment; applies knowledge of blood‑borne pathogen safety measures. Follows all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity. Performs laundry operations at the facility. May possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities within scope of duties. May obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications No experience required. High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Moderate physical effort required (moving furniture and using hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment). #J-18808-Ljbffr
