Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an accredited apprenticeship or formal training program in bookbinding. Demonstrated experience in traditional and modern bookbinding techniques. Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery specific to bookbinding. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications related to bookbinding. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with book conservation and restoration practices. Knowledge of archival standards and materials. Familiarity with digital printing and binding technologies. Certification from a recognized bookbinding or conservation organization. Experience working in a workshop or production environment with a team. Responsibilities: Perform a variety of bookbinding tasks including folding, sewing, gluing, trimming, and casing-in to assemble books. Select and prepare materials such as leather, cloth, paper, and adhesives to meet project specifications. Operate and maintain specialized bookbinding machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
