Novo Restaurant is looking for a highly personable, experienced Bartender with upscale restaurant experience, flexible availability (including weekends) and a passion for cocktails, food and hospitality to join our team. If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply!Summary of Position:Under the direction of the FOH management team, Bartenders provide exceptional and knowledgeable service to guests, while also mixing cocktails and pouring beer and wine for restaurant guests. They practice a high level of bar awareness and have exceptional knowledge of all food and beverage products. Bartenders are required to learn and master the cocktail recipes and build every cocktail on our menu to specifications. You will be responsible for preparing and serving consistent drinks while guiding the guest through their dining experience.Primary Responsibilities:Display exceptional menu knowledge and ability to answer guest questions regarding ingredients and dietary restrictions.Display exceptional knowledge of wine by the glass, bottled beer, and draft beer selectionsRead incoming drink tickets, and correctly pour beer and wine if needed.Inspect lounge tables and bar seats for proper mise en place, cleanliness, and completenessMaintain cleanliness and stock product in the bar throughout the shift.Stock bottled beer, wine, and liquor throughout their shift as needed, and restock at the end of serviceWork as a team with other bartenders and the barback, and assist them with any other tasksHave knowledge of the history & concept of the restaurant & sister restaurants and be able to confidently guide guests to sister restaurants as the opportunity arisesComplete all opening and closing tasks as assigned in checklistsAssist support staff when not needed behind the barEfficiently and correctly mix cocktails and pour beer and wine for guests and service staffCorrectly set up and break down the bar, and ensure that the next bartender is set for successRequired Skills/Abilities:Must be able to comprehend, read, and follow written and verbal direction and communicate clearlyMust have drive and take initiativeDirect experience collecting payments and operating a POS systemHigh level of product knowledgeMust have a high level of integrity and eye for detailSkilled in monitoring and maintaining an inventory of suppliesMust be able to work well with others as a teamHave the ability to cross-train as a serverMust be able to work well/excel under pressure in a high-volume restaurantStrong ability to multitaskHigh standards of excellenceSelf-motivation to complete tasks and to seek out projectsStrong sense of urgencyEducation and Experience:Valid California ServSafe CertificationValid California Sexual Harassment Prevention CertificateValid Responsible Beverage Service Certification is requiredMust have a strong palette, be able to taste batches, syrups, juices with a critical eye, and note changes in the consistency or quality of product at the barMust have at least 4 years bartending experience or proven experience of any combination thereofMust have strong bar product knowledge and understanding of how to craft a cocktailCan produce hand-crafted cocktails that are shaken, stirred, and builtPhysical Requirements:High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods (be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours)Must be able to occasionally lift, balance, reach, push, and move liquor/wine cases and kegs weighing up to 45 poundsMust be able to perform in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment with attention to detailPreferred Qualifications:Flexible working hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays, when necessaryGenuine joy for the hospitality/restaurant industryPlease include your work availability in your application.
