Resident EngineerPosition at The Port Authority of NY & NJAbout the RoleReporting to the Deputy Chief of Construction, with support to the Chief of Materials, the Resident Engineer will be responsible for the Construction Management Divisions environmental compliance and clean construction initiatives. The position will be located at the Port Authority Technical Center, Jersey City, NJ but can be relocated to any other PA Facility within the Port District depending on CMD workload demands.ResponsibilitiesAs the Resident Engineer, you will be managing several support staff and will be responsible for the following:Manage the Environmental Field Office's to ensure construction contracts comply with all regulatory requirements during hazardous material abatement.Support the Resident Engineers office staff in the review of plans, procedures, and construction inspection of all environmental related items.Support the Construction Management Division efforts to ensure that the Clean Construction initiative is carried out effectively.Make regular updates to the Locus Technologies environmental software and develop status reports for managers and other key staff.Serve as CMD's point of contact for all sustainability initiatives including embodied carbon reduction and any ENVISION / LEED requirements during construction.Ensure timely sampling and testing of hazardous and universal waste streams, contaminated materials, and construction/demolition wastes at PA facilities.Determine lead and asbestos content used to support abatement programs.Administer any consultant call-in agreements needed to carry out work and manage Commodities Bids for several waste streams.Approval and negotiations for consultant/vendor project scope, schedule and budget.Minimum QualificationsMust possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Environmental Engineering from an accredited college or university.A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a supervisory role in the environmental field.HAZWOPER 40-hour certificationHazardous Waste Management – RCRA Training meeting the requirements of 40CFR Part 262Hazardous Material Transportation certification from the USDOTDemonstrated experience managing a team of consultants, permanent and specialty staff.Must have a valid driver's license.Must have completed all probationary periods at time of appointment to position.Desired QualificationsCertified Industrial Hygienist certification. Envision or LEED Professional certification.Master's degree in environmental engineering.Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.Selection ProcessThe application process varies by position but typically includes an initial phone interview for qualified candidates, followed by a more in-depth interview(s) and/or assessment(s). The expected compensation range for this role is:Minimum: $ 119,678 Midpoint: $ 155,582 Maximum: $ 191,490In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits employees to work remotely a maximum of one day per week.
