Financial Controller & HR Manager

Ready to take the next step in your hotel career? We're looking for a Financial Controller & HR Manager to help the General Manager lead the Hi-Lo Hotel, Autograph Collection by Marriott in downtown Portland.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure that all work is done accurately, timely, and in accordance with Radiate Hospitality standard accounting practices by directing the overall operations of the Accounting Department. Provide guidance for management by directing, preparing, and providing accurate financial analyses. Assure compliance with internal controls. Investigate problems that may arise in reporting of hotel operation results and financial performance. Conduct audits to ensure that systems are working accurately by performing audits. Direct and maintain a flow of communications. Analyze variances to the budget in the operating statement, making appropriate recommendations for improved efficiencies and cost savings. Audit weekly costs and expenses. Identify operational areas that are inefficient and suggest possible solutions to the Executive Committee. Manage cash flow and report any unusual transactions. Achieve the best possible financial status for the hotel by performing a variety of control functions. Authorize accounting‑related documents according to Radiate Hospitality Policies and Procedures. Optimize cash flow according to Radiate Hospitality Policies and Procedures. Comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations by preparing and filing tax and license information returns. Assure collection of accounts receivable. Ensure accounts payable invoices are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Reconcile hotel daily revenue / IJ and record all revenue accurately. Review and maintain accurate files on all contractual obligations of the hotel. Prepare reports as requested to develop a more informative database for improved management decision‑making and critical evaluation of work activities. Direct the preparation of any information required by owners, corporate office, or General Manager. Compile daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Assist all departments in the preparation of forecasts and budgets. Monitor labor and expenses closely such as housekeeping CPOR, loyalty costs, utilities, etc. Assist and educate managers on cost control and labor control; ensure scheduling aligns with the forecast. Prepare monthly financial statements and year‑end closings. Maintain capital improvement register. Support the GM on contracts and service agreements; maintain the Critical Data List (CDL) up to date and advise the GM prior to renewal. Support GM and Executive Team at weekly and monthly meetings; train the Leadership team in financial understanding. Participate in monthly F&B inventory counts; review and update pricing continuously; the F&B Director & Chef are NOT responsible for the spreadsheet. Retail shop inventory; double‑check the inventory sheet; ensure numbers and pricing are correct; perform audits, investigate variances, write off spoilage, record VIP's amenities, and manage inventory movement between departments correctly. Balance sheet reconciliations, including keeping all tabs up to date and completing them; reconcile and clear as needed. Process payroll, including auditing and verifying restaurant/lounge tips and banquet service charges. Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of your departments. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other hotel employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate. Perform other duties as requested. Oversee all aspects related to hiring: advertisements, job postings, recruiting, interviewing, processing, transfers, orientation, onboarding, and entering new hire information into the HR system. Conduct background checks, reference checks, and issue job offer letters. Handle all internal employee transactions, compensation, and processes (promotions, transfers, performance reviews, termination, wage & scale surveys, engagement surveys, etc.). Ensure compliance with employee signing of documents, labor posters, etc.; produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (claims review, EEO‑1, wage survey, etc.). Maintain file records. Handle employee relations, documentation, and note‑to‑files. Administer all benefits tasks such as enrollment, benefit orientation, and deduction input into the HR system. Develop, implement, and present quarterly training. Be responsible for any reminders, bulletins, and related communications. Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, pregnancy leave, etc.) and workers’ compensation. Address any payroll related issues (especially pertaining to absence of GM). Coordinate monthly all‑team member meetings and recognition programs with the GM. Handle terminations, off‑boarding, and exit interviews. Manage all job postings across the Radiate organization. Submit all background checks. Oversee job postings. Implement rollouts directed from corporate office. Conduct wage analysis for all properties.
