A Day in the Life Our Entry-Level Hygienist (Junior Industrial Hygienist) at Onterris participates as a member of the Industrial Hygiene group. As a Junior Industrial Hygienist, you'll assist in performing industrial hygiene activities including qualitative and quantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, and noise surveys. A Junior Industrial Hygienist also assists in performing indoor air surveys and assists other departments as needed. A Junior Industrial Hygienist would provide data management and evaluation support to Onterris project managers in the areas of industrial hygiene, toxicology, litigation support, risk assessment, disaster recovery, and emergency response. Utilizing your knowledge of various scientific disciplines, you may collect, study, report, and take actions based on data derived from your measurements or observations of air, soil, water, and other sources. To be a successful candidate, you'll need to demonstrate that you can apply scientific methodology for analysis of risk assessments and industrial hygiene applications to ensure the client's expectations are met. The position has many travel opportunities and has a flexible work environment when not on projects. All members of the Industrial Hygiene team assist other departments as needed and available, including responding to emergency projects. This position reports to an IH Project Manager or another upper-level manager. The compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $70,000, in addition to an annual bonus (5%), commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. To thrive in this role Learn the basic industrial hygiene concepts of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazards to workers, the general public, and the environment Perform (with direct supervision) industrial hygiene activities, including, but not limited to, qualitative and quantitative IH/safety surveys, air sampling/monitoring, noise surveys, review/preparation of MSDS, indoor air quality surveys, and preparation/review of project- or site-specific health and safety plans Assist (with guidance from a Project Manager [PM], or Senior IH) in the performance of industrial activities and environmental assessments Assist in providing data management and evaluation support, under the direction of senior staff, to PMs in toxicology, litigation, support, risk assessment, or emergency response Perform duties safely to minimize threats to self and others in work setting with potential chemical, physical, biological, and safety hazards Learn to compile, review, and summarize scientific/technical data and literature under supervision Support other service areas as assigned, under appropriate supervision Perform all duties according to the ethics of the IH profession Demonstrate a professional attitude toward clients, customers, and co-workers to reflect favorably on the company Remain ready and available for emergency response upon client request, with frequent, sometimes extended, travel Maintain compliance with the company's environmental, health, and safety policies and all applicable client, state, federal, and local environmental rules, policies and regulations; and Perform such other duties as assigned Your Expertise and Skills Bachelor's degree (preferred) in industrial hygiene or safety; or Bachelor's degree in a related science field (chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, toxicology, etc.) and completion of an approved industrial hygiene course within one year of employment; or Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Industrial Hygiene and safety-related position, and completion of an approved industrial hygiene course within one year of employment (required) HAZWOPER certification - Required (Can be obtained post hire) DISA clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire) TWIC clearance - Required (Can be obtained post hire) Current driver's license - Required Ability to obtain a passport - Required Completion of all job specific OSHA training (Can be obtained post hire) Completion of all policies and procedures Ability to comply with all job specific OSHA requirements, including the wearing of a respirator Computer and data management skills in a Windows-based platform Multitasking and balance multiple priorities simultaneously Work in a fast-paced environment Work well alone and with a team Ability to travel Work Environment and Physical Requirements The physical and environmental requirements below reflect what's typically needed to perform the essential functions of this role safely and effectively.
