Responsibilities

Perform electroencephalogram on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients including EEG to assist in the diagnosis of various brain disorders with direct supervision.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consults with physicians and checks patient's history.
• Explains procedure to patient and places electrodes in appropriate cranial areas using the International 10-20 system.
• Performs EEG in accordance with standard operating procedures and in accordance with ACNS guidelines.
• Provide detailed observations while recording the EEG.
• Reports need for repairs for the EEG equipment to immediate supervisor.
• Enter charges into computer system to ensure proper billing of patients.
• Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Enrolled in a Neurodiagnostics program and must provide letter confirming nine months clinical experience performing EEG studies.

OR

• Completion of a Neurodiagnostics program.

OR

• One year supervised on-the-job training experience performing EEG studies in a clinical setting and must provide letter confirming the experience

OR

• One (1) Year experience performing EEG studies.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

PREFERRED

• Registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET)
• Completion of a certified EEG program and one year performing EEG studies.

Work Hours:

7AM-5:30PM
