Live Production Director

Summary of Responsibilities: The Live Production Director directs all production aspects of Highlands College chapels and special events, including equipment/infrastructure, and manages all related technical details. This role oversees the planning, setup, and execution of audio, video, lighting, and staging to ensure every gathering reflects the excellence and intentionality of Highlands College. Working in close collaboration with the Spiritual Development team and other departments across the Church and College, the Live Production Director leads and develops production team and students while maintaining the systems and standards necessary for seamless live events. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Serve as primary Technical Producer for chapel services, attending and annotating rehearsals, instructing camera operators, attending pre-service meetings. 2. Serve as the primary point of contact with Central Broadcast team of Church of the Highlands and Grandview Team regarding the installation and upkeep of camera system, other repairs and improvements needed in the Grandview Auditorium. 3. Oversee the development and implementation of training benchmarks and protocols for camera operators and shaders. 4. Troubleshooting, cleaning, and maintaining equipment in coordination with Central Broadcast and Campus Production team. 5. Coordinating software, hardware, and firmware update needs with Central Broadcast team. 6. Oversee broadcast and camera equipment training for Highlands College Live Production major and minor students Help in developing teaching materials, Leading training sessions, Developing student evaluations and assessments. 7. Assist in post-production editing and archiving of recorded services and events. 8. Manage all Highlands College Production operations required to support and facilitate chapels and events. 9. Uphold department policies regarding systems, training methods, workflow, etc. 10. Coordinate interdepartmental projects. 11. Engage in long-term department planning. 12. Nurture and maintain relationships with equipment vendors, while actively pursuing relationships with potential new vendors. 13. Actively research new products, equipment, and solutions through active usage of blogs, web forums, equipment manuals, publications, etc. 14. Help manage and run production equipment during special events, retreats, and conferences. Other Duties: Participate in ministry at Church of the Highlands and Highlands College by leading small groups. Affirm and uphold the Statement of Faith and the Core Values and DNA of the College, exemplifying all by word and lifestyle. Leadership Requirements: Provide leadership to student production team members and Live Production students serving in chapel and event production. Lead and develop teams to effectively reach set goals for service quality and student growth. Set clear and challenging objectives, inspiring and encouraging high performance in teams and individuals. Convey accurate information effectively using the most appropriate methods to reflect the needs of the audience and ensure mutual understanding. Anticipate the possible demands and outcomes of a particular service or event, planning and prioritizing appropriately. Review progress achieved, publicly and privately recognizing achievement. Abilities & Skills: Ability to plan and execute live audio, video, and lighting production at a high standard of quality. Ability to clearly explain complicated technical processes to students and volunteers. Ability to self-motivate and make independent decisions in a live environment. Ability to train and develop others, providing constructive feedback and instruction. Knowledge: Knowledge answers, “What are they supposed to know?” Examples include: Working knowledge of audio engineering, video production, lighting, and presentation systems used in live services. Understanding of production workflow, including planning, rehearsal, execution, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with instructional and developmental approaches for training students in a hands‑on environment. Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Relevant production experience may substitute for the educational requirement. Experience: Demonstrated experience leading live production in a church, ministry, or comparable live event environment. Experience training or developing production teams is strongly preferred. Extent of Public Contact: High Physical Demands: (Please specify physical requirements if the position requires physical duties). Moderate exposure to physical risk. Good physical condition is required. Ability to drive between campuses. Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
