Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an Internal Only: Sr Principal Software Engineer – SW Engr Product Owner (26-306) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role supports the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

NOTE: This position is only available to current and active C2BMC personnel. It does not provide relocation assistance and requires on‑site work with no remote options.

Essential Functions

• Understand customer needs, prioritize features, and collaborate with development teams to deliver successful product releases.
• Non‑standard work hours may be required during event execution.
• A small amount of travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, with 8 years of experience; or a master’s degree with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree.
• Current, active in‑scope DoD‑issued Secret security clearance at the time of application; must be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs.
• Demonstrated contributions to object‑oriented software development and testing with a structured approach to refine capabilities into fielded products.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly, present technical methods and findings, and write and execute engineering plans within projects.
• Proven skills in development of new software capabilities, Java (or other object‑oriented languages), object‑oriented development principles and patterns, comprehensive reproducible tests, written and oral communication, and understanding of software development processes and principles.
• Comfortable with rapidly changing requirements, design challenges requiring novel solutions, fast‑paced work, and tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Test‑driven development combined with continuous integration.
• Designing software architecture and Service‑Oriented Architecture principles.
• Refactoring code to enhance reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object‑oriented codebase.
• Familiarity with Java‑based and Web‑based user interface development, application deployment, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, Eclipse IDE, Maven, and Git.
• Peer review activities, data extraction for analysis, strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Algorithm implementation, messaging interfaces, and knowledge of command‑and‑control systems.
• Understanding of track correlation algorithms, Link‑16 protocols, COTS and FOSS, and applying Agile methodology.

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 – $193,900.00. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for certain positions.
