MS Special Education Teacher (LTS) Grade 4 Job Title: MS Special Education Teacher – Long‑Term Substitute (Grade 4) Location: Middle School, Abby Kelley Foster Charter Middle School, Worcester, Massachusetts Starting Date: Aug 17 2026 Reports To: Building Principal Job ID: 5800024 Position Type: Temporary Full‑Time, Non‑Exempt School Year: 2026‑2027 Salary: $225 Per Day Key Responsibilities Deliver lesson plans and instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students. Maintain classroom discipline and foster a respectful, inclusive atmosphere. Assess and monitor student progress and provide feedback as necessary. Collaborate with other educators and staff to support student learning and well‑being. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding educational matters. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field. Valid Massachusetts teaching license in the appropriate subject area. Prior teaching experience preferred. Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Additional Requirements Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts regulations. Completion of required training or certifications upon hire, including first aid, CPR, and behavior‑management training. Massachusetts DESE Regulations for This Position Educational Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Licensure Requirements: For assignments exceeding 90 consecutive days, must hold the appropriate teaching license for the subject area. Duration of Assignment: Individuals with a bachelor’s degree may serve as LT‑Substitutes for up to the entire school year under emergency regulations, except for positions requiring Special Education or ESL licenses. Hardship Waivers: Districts may apply for a hardship waiver to employ an unlicensed individual when a licensed candidate is unavailable. Compensation and Benefits Temporary full‑time position in accordance with the Substitute Teacher Scale. This position is not eligible for benefits.
