Job Summary:

In this role you will be responsible for advancing the Colorado Community College System’s (CCCS) grant strategy, external resource development, and grant administration infrastructure. The Director leads the CCCS office’s comprehensive approach to identifying, cultivating, securing, implementing, and stewarding federal, state, and private funding opportunities aligned with systemwide strategic priorities. You will provide leadership across the full grant lifecycle, including prospecting, proposal development, budgeting, contracting, implementation support, compliance monitoring, reporting, risk management, sustainability planning, and close-out. This role maintains a proactive, pipeline-focused approach to grant strategy, continuously identifying emerging funding opportunities, strengthening CCCS’s readiness to pursue competitive awards, and building the systems, processes, and partnerships needed to support effective grant development and administration across the system. The person in this role is responsible for successfully securing grant funds aligned with the CCCS mission and projects. The Director position also supervises two employees.

Note: One day per week in our Lowry office is required for meetings with other System Office staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Leads the development of a centralized grants management function by developing, recommending, and implements compliant and efficient policies and processes related to the full spectrum of the grants lifecycle, including pre-award and post-award management processes.
• Leads decision-making for grants management policies, practices, and strategic direction to ensure compliance with both applicable laws and institutional policies.
• Serves as the leader of the grant-making process by leading the development and implementation of policies, systems, and practices on grants data collection, storage and analysis, as well as due diligence requirements and document retention.
• Serves as the owner of the CCCS’s grant prospecting process by continuously scanning federal, state, foundation, and corporate funding landscapes to identify emerging opportunities aligned with CCCS’s strategic priorities.
• Maintains and actively cultivates a robust prospect pipeline using grant databases.
• Conducts regular funding landscape analyses and presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Provides statewide leadership and technical management of federal, state, and private grant funds to support the business priorities of the CCCS Workforce Solutions and Innovation team.

• Knowledge of grant compliance regulations, with a specific focus on Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and State Fiscal Rules.
• Ability to develop new processes, procedures, forms and technical communications.
• Knowledge of contract development and administration.
• Comfort with grant budget and fiscal management.
• Knowledge of higher education and workforce development integration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in public administration, accounting, nonprofit management, business, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the degree.
• Five years of experience managing state, federal, and/or private funds, inclusive of monitoring and compliance.
• Experience must include grant strategy, external resource development, and grant administration infrastructure work within a large community college or community college system.
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

• CCCS offices at 9101 E Lowry Blvd., Denver, CO 80230.
• In-state travel is possible and may take up to 10% of the individual’s time. Some out-of-state travel may be required.
• This position is expected to work in the office at least 1 day per week.
• Alternative work arrangements, including flexible schedules and hybrid-remote work may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
