Medical Education Coordinator

Job Summary The Departments of Neurology and Neurological Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, School of Medicine and Public Health are seeking an Academic Program Specialist to join our team of education administrative professionals. The selected candidate will work closely with curriculum leaders, clinical and basic science faculty, and medical students to coordinate inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences, supporting Phase 2 and Phase 3 FORWARD curriculum activities. This role includes managing assessments, assignments, program requirements, and other administrative and educational tasks. Partial remote work is sometimes available. Key Responsibilities Identify program needs and contribute to the development of unit workflows, scheduling logistics, and securing resources for meetings, events, and interviews. Utilize independent judgment in the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of academic programs, initiatives, or events. Supervise day‑to‑day activities of one or more academic programs and resolve issues, exercising discretion to meet unit goals. Assist with enrollment and coordination of undergraduate students in independent study or other research courses for credit. Coordinate program components, evaluate program effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement. Required Qualifications Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, educational administrative platforms, and learning management systems such as Oasis, MedHub, Acuity. Previous roles in academic medicine, education, healthcare, or related fields. Basic understanding of medical education or clinic systems and ability to interpret medical education policies and procedures. At least one year of experience coordinating and managing complex schedules or events. Preferred Qualifications One year of prior experience in an academic medical setting, or prior experience in higher education or equivalent. Prior experience at the School of Medicine and Public Health or UWMadison. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Compensation and Benefits The starting salary for this position is $51,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
