Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Hours per Shift: 11.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg, including wound and colostomy experience License: Client RN License Certifications: Current certification in one of the following: - Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) - Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) Must-Have: - Strong background in wound care, colostomy care, patient assessment, and care planning Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff. Collaborate with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in assuming responsibility for the prevention of complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation and continuing education. Provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries. Initiate preventative measures as necessary. Communicate challenges identified, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with nursing leadership to recommend best practices based on assessment findings. Participate in Quality Improvement activities at both the unit and departmental levels. Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with various belief systems. Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information according to patient rights policies. Achieve and maintain a professional competency level consistent with clinical practice. Identify available community resources helpful to clients and assist them in utilizing such resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
