Job Description

The Rewinder Operator plays a key role in safely and efficiently operating rewind equipment to convert printed rolls into finished products that meet precise customer and company specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, solid mathematical skills, and a commitment to quality. As the final step in the production process, the Rewinder Operator serves as the last quality checkpoint, ensuring all finished products meet job requirements and company standards while consistently achieving production targets.

Responsibilities

• Operate rewind machinery and related production equipment to convert printed rolls into finished products according to job specifications.

• Set up and adjust rewind blades to achieve precise slit widths and correct finished roll dimensions.

• Read, interpret, and verify job tickets and work orders before and during production to ensure all product specifications are accurate.

• Perform basic math calculations, including measurements and fractions, to confirm quantities, roll sizes, and dimensions meet requirements.

• Inspect finished products for print quality, proper slitting, winding tension, labeling accuracy, and overall compliance with specifications.

• Act as the final quality control checkpoint by identifying, documenting, and correcting defects prior to shipping or further processing.

• Maintain production efficiency by meeting output goals while minimizing waste and rework.

• Accurately document production data and complete all required paperwork and records.

• Support press operators by catching fanfold products and sheets as needed to maintain smooth production flow.

• Keep the work area clean and organized by properly storing materials such as bubble wrap and cores and maintaining general housekeeping standards.

• Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures at all times.

• Communicate effectively with press operators, supervisors, and team members to ensure a smooth workflow and timely completion of production runs.

Essential Skills

• Ability to safely operate rewind machinery and related production equipment in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect, document, and address quality defects.

• Basic math skills, including working confidently with measurements, fractions, and production-related calculations.

• Ability to read and accurately interpret job tickets, work orders, and production documentation.

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with moving machinery and production equipment.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

• Strong organizational skills to manage materials, documentation, and workflow efficiently.

• Effective communication skills to collaborate with press operators, supervisors, and team members.

• Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot production issues and make appropriate adjustments.

• Ability to lift and move materials in compliance with company safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with rewind machine operation, label machines, and printing equipment in a production setting.

• Past experience in production, quality control, and quality inspection activities.

• Experience using precision measuring tools to verify slit widths, roll dimensions, and product specifications.

• Familiarity with winding tension, slitting processes, and converting printed rolls into finished products.

• Comfort working with custom and stock label products for industrial and packaging applications.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces custom and stock labels for industrial and packaging applications, including thermal transfer, direct thermal, and specialty label products. The site is a smaller operation of approximately 20–30 people, fostering a tight-knit and collaborative environment. The position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the workday, as well as continuous operation of production equipment. You will work around moving machinery, noise, and varying production conditions while following all required safety procedures and guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
