Role Description The Dental Receptionist is a full-time, on-site role based at Ideal Smiles Dentistry in Virginia Beach, VA. This position is responsible for greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out procedures, and ensuring a welcoming and organized front desk environment. Daily tasks include answering and directing phone calls, scheduling and confirming appointments, coordinating patient flow, and updating patient records accurately in the practice management system. The role also involves verifying insurance information, handling copayments and billing inquiries, and communicating clearly with both patients and clinical staff to support smooth office operations. The Dental Receptionist contributes to maintaining a calm, professional atmosphere that aligns with the practice’s commitment to patient comfort and quality care. Qualifications Ability to perform core receptionist duties, including greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out, and maintaining an organized front desk. Proficiency in appointment scheduling and calendar management using practice management or similar software. Strong phone etiquette and communication skills for handling calls, relaying messages, and assisting patients with courtesy and professionalism. Basic understanding of dental care services and terminology to support patients and staff with accurate information. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, patient record management, and insurance verification. Experience in a dental or medical office setting is preferred; familiarity with insurance billing and verification is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative team members.
