Position Summary The Medical Assistant supports urgent care providers with clinical and administrative tasks, including patient intake, vitals, testing, procedures, room preparation, and EMR documentation. This role delivers a high‑quality, customer‑focused experience in a fast‑paced care setting. Essential Functions Register patients, verify insurance, and collect co-pays Schedule appointments and coordinate specialist referrals Respond to patient inquiries and provide care status updates Communicate patient flow and assist with patient preparation Record medical history and obtain vital signs Perform point‑of‑care testing (flu, strep, ECG) Perform phlebotomy and administer injections Prepare, clean, and restock exam rooms Update EMR and scan documents Answer phones and manage general administrative tasks Conduct patient follow‑up and maintain reception area Complete opening and closing procedures, including cash‑out Conduct daily equipment checks and submit repair tickets Perform additional duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency in Medical Assistant duties Strong typing and computer skills Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Detail oriented with strong task management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Strong team collaboration skills What We Offer Career advancement opportunities, including leadership and clinical education pathways EMR training and mentorship from providers and market leadership Competitive compensation and monthly bonus program 5 weeks of paid time off Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and 401(k) with employer match Requirements High School Diploma required Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire (AHA or ARC) Certification Requirements One of the following certifications is required: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA) CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP) RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH, or ARMA) NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) NRCMA – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP) Certification Alternatives Experience-Based Pathway (no MA Certification At Hire) Candidates may qualify with: A minimum of 3 years of Medical Assistant experience, AND At least 1 of those years must be in a Hospital, Emergency Room, or Urgent Care setting Note Must obtain an approved MA certification within 6 months of start date to remain eligible for continued employment.
