Employee performs highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment. Work involves technical application of electrical principles in the commercial and industrial environments. Expects each employee to grow and advance in their position. Any questions from the Customer should be directed to the job foreman/Journeyman. • Handle, use and store company and co-worker tools, equipment and trucks as if they were your own. • Know and exercise proper boundaries and limitations. Job Duties: • Installs, services and repairs lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring. • Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment. • Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery. • Constructs and maintains service equipment. • Reads electrical circuit diagrams. • Requisitions material and supplies from vendors. • Transfers primary power from one power source to another. • Installs conductors, splices cable, builds terminations and does necessary hook-up for primary power lines. • Install surface and underground conduit for electrical lines and installs low voltage electric lines and conduits for telephone systems. • May do other trades work incidental to electrical work. • Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently. • Diagnoses causes of electrical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair. • Installs electrical system components (e.g. lighting, alarms, electrical panels, switches, circuits, scoreboards, timers, street signs, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities. • Maintains assigned vehicle, equipment, and tools for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition. • Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information. • Repairs electrical components and/or systems (e.g. motors, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition. • Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to be in confined spaces and use a respirator at times. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
