Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes. Collaborates with surgical teams to coordinate patient care and maintain sterile environments throughout perioperative phases.

Responsibilities:

• Circulate during surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Operate surgical equipment safely and efficiently, preparing the operating room and equipment for procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them appropriately and ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Assess and plan patient care before, during, and after surgery, documenting all activities accurately.
• Handle, dispose of, and document biohazardous materials in compliance with safety standards.
• Access facility information systems to retrieve and document patient and surgical data as needed.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess at least two years of recent OR circulating experience.
• Maintain current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
• Demonstrate competency in operating room procedures, equipment, and sterile techniques.
• Have EPIC experience or similar electronic health record system proficiency.
• Certification as a Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) is preferred.
